Questions

How will the Budget affect my take home pay?

Put your salary into the calculator. The left column uses the confirmed 2026/27 rules and the right column uses the Budget figures. The difference shows what you gain or lose a year and a month.

When is the Budget 2026?

The Chancellor delivers the Budget on Wednesday 28 October 2026. I add the announced rates to this calculator the same day.

Why is the difference £0 at the moment?

Until the Budget is announced, the after the Budget column uses the same rules as now. Once the new thresholds and rates are in, the difference shows the effect on you.

Do Budget changes apply straight away?

Usually not. Most Income Tax and National Insurance changes start on 6 April, the start of a new tax year. I show the date each change starts under the column heading.

Which rates does the calculator use now?

For 2026/27: a Personal Allowance of £12,570, basic rate 20% to £50,270, higher rate 40% to £125,140 and additional rate 45% above that. Employee National Insurance is 8% between £12,570 and £50,270 and 2% above. Scotland has its own Income Tax bands.

Is this financial advice?

No. It is an estimate for an employee paid through PAYE with a standard tax code. Your payslip and HMRC's own figures are the final word.
